"A Look Through the Lens"

Blog to document the photo adventures and different client as well as personal projects which I have completed as well as works in progress.

Cleveland Metroparks Centennial - Bradley Woods Reservation

The year 2017 is the 100th Anniversary of the Cleveland Metroparks. With that in mind, I am going to be attempting to visit as many of the reservations which make up the Emerald Necklace.

The first on the list of reservations I visited was Bradley Woods. This is the first time I have gone out to photograph in the year 2017. The weather outside did not make for great photographs so I decided to focus on detail shots and textures on the ground floor of the forest.

I hiked two trails within the reservation, Bunn's Lake Loop within the Bunn's Lake Wildlife Area as well as the Pin Oak Loop.

The Bunn's Lake Loop wraps around the small lake dedicated in 1986. The lake was created to provide a habitat for waterfowl and wildlife. This lake is not photogenic currently being partially frozen over. The outlying sections of the lake around the trail are also fairly dry with the lowered water levels in the winter.

The Pin Oak Loop was much more photogenic and provided me with more opportunities to capture details of the winter woods. This is where I decided to spend most of my time. The peeling yellow birch trees provided texture for the crisp sepia toned images.  There were also pops of green among the brown leaves strewn across the forest floor.

Watch for more posts over the coming weeks and months of our photo adventures in 2017!
