Family Photos in Olmsted Falls
Family photos are memories captured at a specific moment in time treasured by families generations into the future. This past Sunday I had the opportunity to work with one of the families who participated in the quarantine project. It was fun being able to work with the Hickle family again.
For their latest session, we met at David Fortier Park in Olmsted Falls. This park contains the ruins of one of the Berea Sandstone Quarries, a covered bridge which provided coverage from the spotty rain showers, and of course the waterfalls which Olmsted Falls is named after.
We started the session inside the covered bridge which provided leading lines and warmth from the hardwood beams. The kids also appreciated it since it was still sprinkling at this point and they didn’t want to get wet! After we finished in the bridge, we moved down into the quarry and park area of the park. At this point, the rain had subsided and we were able to get some great shots against the sandstone rock walls, stairs, and grindstones. We could not have asked for better lighting with the bright overcast skies.
Our final spot for this mini-session was down by the waterfalls with the stone bridge in the background. While we were down there I learned that this was where the parents, Zak and Stephanie had their wedding photos done 10 years ago. The kids were a blast to work with and were getting silly by the end of our time together which made for a great final image of the youngest laughing!
This was a great first family shoot to kickoff the fall season! I cannot wait to work with the other families who are coming up.
