St. Mary’s of Immaculate Conception - Family History

Saturday morning brought in dense fog after torrential rains the night before which presented the perfect opportunity and reason to visit St Mary’s in Avon to photograph the family burial plots. My moms side of the family (Rinck/Rink) came from Germany to settle in what is now Avon in 1853.

The first photo below is my Great-Great-Great Grandpa Martin Rinck (2nd Generation), his wife Gertrude, and their daughter Emma.

The second photo is one of the parish reverends who passed away in 1928. His name was Rev. Michael Dechant.

The third, fourth, and fifth photos are just some of the oldest part of the cemetery through the fog.

The last two images are one of the other family headstones I found today. This would be my Great-Great-Great Grandpa’s brother, William Rinck and his 7 kids from his first wife. The 7 kids perished in 1861 between August and October possibly due to Cholera. The oldest of the kids was age 11 and the youngest was 1 1/2 years old.

I cannot wait to get back to the cemetery with the grave marker layout to find all the other members of my moms family who are buried there to document more of the family history.
